Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome back to school after what I hope has been a wonderful Easter break for you all! We are delighted with how well the children have returned to school, they all seem very well rested, energised and ready for an exciting term ahead!

Today the children have enjoyed ‘Earth Day’ and this year’s theme is ‘Invest in our Planet’. Children have had the opportunity to think about how we can do our part as a school to save our planet and every pupil made a pledge to commit to preserving our beautiful Earth. I would like to thank Miss O’Mahony, Assistant Headteacher (Curriculum, Diversity and Inclusion) for organising the activities across the school.

This term is always a busy one in terms of assessment. We have both Year 2 and 6 SATS, Year 4 have the Multiplication Table Check and Year 1 have their Phonics Screening Check. If you do have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher in the first instance.

At the end of this section I have attached a poster regarding StudyBugs, which we are very keen for as many parents and carers to use. StudyBugs not only saves you time reporting absence for sickness, but is also very quick and efficient. Please remember this is for reporting sickness only and any reporting must be completed on the day and not the night before. For more information on StudyBugs, please see the poster on the next page.

We were also delighted to take delivery of our second Buddy Bench from The Biggin Hill Shed. As you are aware, the School Council had requested these benches for school and they will make a wonderful addition to each playground. I would like to thank the School Council for this brilliant idea and Mrs Snelling for organising this with The Biggin Hill Shed. Finally, a very special ‘thank you’ to The Biggin Hill Shed for our fabulous benches!

I would also like to advise that our menus have recently been updated on our website and can be found at: https://www.bigginhillprimary.com/ at the bottom of the page.

We will continue sending out weekly menus each Friday afternoon as we feel this is working well for families and keeps this fresh in your inbox!

Next week is a very busy week with Year 3 and 5 off on trips on Wednesday. If we can just politely ask parents and carers to park as far away from the entrance to school on this day, it will help us greatly with both a clear and swift departure.

We are all looking forward to a very exciting term ahead.

Have a wonderful weekend.

My very best wishes,

Mrs Freeman

Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
