Science Week and the Opening of the BioDome—a note from Ms Flitter

Posted: Thu 24th Mar 2016

I would like to thank all the staff and children at Biggin Hill Primary School who made Science week an incredible week of learning! Children throughout the school were enthused and engaged and this showed during the parent open afternoon, when children were able to share their week's learning with the ones they love. Thank you to the parents and carers who attended the Friday afternoon, it wouldn't have been the same without you. This was invaluable time spent sharing learning and the children are still talking about it now!

A huge thank you to Emma Kirby's mother who received our plea for donations for our newly installed BioDome. She passed the message on to her Schools, Community, Outreach and Partnership Officer Jane Wiseman at Coolings Nurseries in Knockholt, and we were very lucky to receive an abundance  of donated plants to start off our growing season. We look forward to continuing the partnership.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Victoria Papageorghiou and her mother for their donations which have been a great help in starting off the growing season in the science area senses beds. Parent and community contribution is always invaluable and I can't thank people enough for their support.

We also celebrated the opening of the BioDome on Friday 18th March, with the Deputy Major of Bromley cutting the ribbon—making it open for growing. The Eco-Club have worked very hard to ensure the dome was ready for the opening and enjoyed bringing classes and parents to share in this.

Thank you again to everyone who made it a fantastic week. I look forward to working on the next project with you all.
