Dear Parents and Carers,
It was a pleasure to welcome everyone back to school on Tuesday to what I hope will be a wonderful summer term.
I would like to thank our fabulous children in Year 2 for their brilliant class assemblies. Loch Ness class assembly took place on the last day of term and today it was the turn of Royal Mile class. Both of these class assemblies were fantastic - we are so proud of all the children! My thanks to Mrs Lucas, Loch Ness class, Mrs Windover, Royal Mile class and to Mrs Snelling for working so hard with the children on each class assembly. Thank you also to parents and carers for coming.
Yesterday, you would have received a letter from Paul Woolfenden, Chair ofthe Charles Darwin Academy Trust, along with a copy of our Ofsted Inspection Report. Myself, the leadership team and staff are delighted with the Ofsted report and all feel that it shows the ethos of our fabulous school, the engagement and hard work of the children and the value we place around our families and our school community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff team for their exceptional and continuous hard work and, most importantly, the children for making Biggin Hill Primary the very special place that it is.
The Ofsted report will be on our school website early next week and will beavailable on the DfE website soon.
This term is always very exciting as we all generally enjoy the warmer weather and the opportunity to be outside more. With this in mind, can we request that children have a freshly re-filled water bottle in school each day,a sun hat and also sunscreen applied before they come to school.
On Wednesday, Mrs Sanford was delighted to share with you ourarrangements for Sports Day on Friday 30th June. Please look very carefullyat the letter as this provides the timings for both KS1 and KS2. Please note, Friday 7th July is allocated as a reserve for Sports Day - this will only be allocated if the weather conditions are deemed too unsafe for us to deliver Sports Day on 30th June.
Yesterday, we also forwarded a letter from the Friends of BHPS who are offering children an opportunity to purchase a gift, as a surprise, for all Fathers and other superheroes in their lives. If you would like your child to participate in this lovely initiative, please follow the instructions within the letter sent yesterday. The last day for ordering via ParentPay or the yellow Friends box in main reception is Wednesday, 14th June at 3pm. Please be advised, the Friends of BHPS will not be able to process any late orders.
On Wednesday, the School Council wrote to you regarding a cake sale that is taking place after school on Thursday 22nd June. Please support this brilliant fundraising event as all money raised will go towards the purchasing of lunchtime playground equipment and also new books for our reception classes.
Please also remember that we are collecting for BAG2SCHOOL on Monday 12th June and are able to collect and recycle good quality second hand clothing. You are welcome to bring in any of the following items: men’s, ladies’ & children’s clothing, paired shoes and handbags, belts and accessories. Any items need to be brought into school by 9am ina plastic bag - no uniforms, pillows, duvets or fabric pieces.
It has been a wonderful first week and the children have come back to
school full of enthusiasm for learning.
We are all looking forward to a fabulous final term ahead.
My very best wishes,
Mrs Freeman
