Dear Parents and Carers,
Earlier in the week, we forwarded a letter to you all from the Director of Public Health England regarding elevated levels of Group A Strep. I have today reattached the letter as it provides important information and advice.
On Monday, Year 5 had a fabulous day learning all about the Egyptians with their visit and workshop run by ‘Portals to the Past’. Both Miss Gray and Miss Farrell have informed us that the children had a fabulous day!
Our thanks to the Friends of BHPS for running ‘Elfridges’ on Monday. The children loved the opportunity to purchase surprise gifts for loved ones. There is a huge amount of effort that goes into this. Thank you very much to the Friends for giving up their time to run this special event for the children. We are aware that Pyramid class were a little late back for dismissal and we would like to apologise for this - thank you so much for your understanding.
On Tuesday, we held our ‘Tea and Tots’ Christmas party for some of the youngest members of our school community - we even had a special visit from an Elf! The party, which was organised by Mrs Sargeant, was brilliant fun! A very special ‘thank you’ to Mrs Sargeant and Mrs Spears for a festive afternoon for the little ones! Our ‘Tea and Tots’ baby and toddler group has now finished for this term and will start again on Tuesday, 10th January at the normal time.
On Monday, we sent out some information regarding the Creative Ballet club that Boom Arts are running at school during the spring term. We are very excited to be able to provide this club at Biggin Hill Primary School, however we must inform you that in order for this club to run, Boom Arts require a minimum of 15 children to attend.
We are also very pleased to announce that Creation Station will be continuing to run their Create Club for children in year 2-6 during the Spring term. This club will take place in the Hub on Wednesday’s after school.
Thank you for taking part in our Christmas Jumper Day for ‘Save the Children’ yesterday. All money donated at the gate or in class will go directly to ‘Save the Children’. Once again, thank you for supporting this amazing charity.
Our thanks to Mr and Mrs Kemp for donating three beautiful Christmas trees! Mr and Mrs Kemp have been donating Christmas trees to the school for a number of years and we are so grateful for this added bit of festive cheer!
Today we are all looking forward to the BHPS Christmas Fair between 3.30-5.30pm. Please come along to browse and shop - there really is something for everyone. It certainly feels more Christmassy this week at BHPS. We hope to be able to deliver ‘Plan A’ in terms of performances however do keep an eye on your email on a daily basis as we will use this to communicate any changes to individual year groups in the event of very poor weather.
We would just like to remind families that the last day of term and day in school is Tuesday 20th December.
We look forward to seeing you all at the BHPS Christmas Fair later this afternoon.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Our very best wishes,
Mrs Freeman Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
Mrs Lawrence SENCo, Deputy Headteacher and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
