Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had such an enjoyable week in school. Although still chilly, it's been lovely to see some lessons being taken outside and the children enjoying the grounds during PE.

Teaching staff have reported that children are showing great interest and engagement in their learning and we hope they are coming home feeling fulfilled and telling you all about their day at school.

The staff team agrees that there has been some semblance of a return to ‘normality’ for the children and school generally feels much more like it did prior to the pandemic.

Mrs Churchward, Geography Lead, has put together a lovely article about how we celebrated World Earth Day across the school. All children have contributed to some display work that shows how well Biggin Hill Primary has committed to looking after our beautiful planet! We will be putting up two displays, one in the KS1 and KS2
entrance halls very soon.

This term, the focus is on the highest possible quality teaching and learning, ensuring that we identify and close any learning gaps as well as providing additional challenge for those children who need it.

Our ‘Deep Dive’ behaviour survey has now closed. Thank you to the parents/carers and children that responded - your views are extremely important and will help to shape our provision. Over the coming weeks we will be collectively looking at the results along with our Behaviour Policy and will communicate our findings and resulting
actions in due course.

We also still have a vacancy for a community governor. A community governor cannot be a parent or carer of a child at the school currently but they may be associated with the school in another way eg. a grandparent or local resident. If you know someone who might be interested in finding out a little bit more about the role of a community governor, please ask them to get in touch with me.

Finally, we are currently recruiting for a School Cleaner (15.30 -17.30 hrs Monday to Friday, 10 per week, 45 weeks per year). If you would like to find out more information about this post, please contact j.burton@bigginhillps.com in the first instance.

We are all very much looking forward to the bank holiday weekend and hope that we will be blessed with some sunshine!

I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, 4th May.

Have a fabulous and safe weekend.

My very best wishes,

Mrs Freeman
