On Tuesday 7th July, we were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Hannah Grey, to a socially distanced visit of our school. The Mayor visited our school to officially award a certificate for our outstanding efforts during this pandemic.

On behalf of our school community, it was an honor to show the Mayor of Bromley our amazing school and introduce our wonderful children. This special visit coincided with International Week and we were able to showcase some of our creativity and beautiful work - the Mayor really did get a flavour of our very special school!

During her visit, the Mayor spent some time with our reception children who were enjoying their outdoor learning area. She also visited the year 1 children whilst they were on the playground with chalk, drawing animals and writing about what they eat, to decide if they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. The Mayor also spent time with year 6 children and chatted to them about their time at Biggin Hill Primary School and their move onto secondary school, wishing them all the very best of luck!

The Mayor visited our Key Worker provision where children were also celebrating International Week and learning about Native America, Mexico, Greece and Spain. At the time of her visit, our nursery and reception aged children were making Native American chocolate teepees, our year 2 children were designing promotional posters about countries they would like to visit after lockdown and our year 5 and 6 children were enjoying time in our Forest School and making cats cradles!

The Mayor and I talked about the school’s use of our Google Suite and how this platform has helped teachers to share learning activities, hold virtual classrooms and deliver live lessons for all our children learning at home and at school.

It was wonderful for the Mayor of Bromley to see how engaged the children were in their learning, the depth and breadth of activities on offer for our children in school and for us to be able to show off our amazing provision.

On behalf of our entire school community, my staff team and the children of Biggin Hill Primary School, it was an absolute delight and honor to welcome the Mayor and accept this very special certificate.
